A grass and woods fire quickly grew as the Pebble Fire Department asked for help from Haleyville and Ashridge. The fire was in a wooded area that was used as a salvage yard full of old vehicles. The fire ignited some old tires and in turn caught some cars on fire. Explosions could be heard from the area of the fire as gas tanks on the old vehicles ignited.The fire was contained and allowed become a controlled burn. William Grimes said it was definitely a thrown down cigarette that started the fire and with dry windy conditions it grew.
